Who am I?
My name is Robby Brock. I am a neuroscience major at Santa Clara University.
I was first exposed to autism in high school where I volunteered at an organization called Ride to Walk. We used horseback riding as a form of therapy for children and young adults with neurological disorders including autism. Working with these riders was an eye-opening experience for me. I am so grateful for Dr. Kris and all of the volunteers for the incredible opportunity and for the amazing work that they do. |
Volunteering at Ride to Walk helped inspire me to follow my current path.
After graduating high school, I chose to be a neuroscience major so that I could help these children and their families through research and medicine. This year I joined the Cocas lab, a neurobiology lab led by Dr. Cocas. By looking at how cells in the brain communicate, we hope to learn more about neurological disorders and how we might treat them. I am very thankful for the opportunity and I am excited to continue with this lab over the summer. |
